You’re in a conversation and someone says, “We must accept transgender theory in order for our society to move beyond harmful gender stereotypes.” What would you say?

That’s the topic of the latest video in our What Would You Say? series, which is designed to help you answer our culture’s toughest questions with clarity and confidence.

The tragic irony of transgender theory is that far from destroying sex stereotypes, it depends on rigid stereotypes about what it means to be a man or a woman. So, moms and dads are deciding that daughters must really be boys if they like to play with trucks, or that sons must really be girls if they like to bake cookies.

Also, when people do transition, they typically express sex-stereotypes. Think of the infamous Vanity Fair cover with Bruce Jenner wearing make-up and showing cleavage in a dress.

Transgender theory cannot move us beyond harmful gender stereotypes because it depends on them.
