늙어감을 배우기란 쉽지 않습니다 . Learning how to grow old is no easy task

60세와 65세 된 부부가 환갑 여행으로 캐나다 밴프에 왔습니다.

하와이엔 없는 노란 단풍과 확 트인 대륙, 하늘을 찌르듯이 펼쳐지는 바위 산들, 코발트 빛 호수,
신나서 보이는 대로 찍었습니다.
날이 저물어 갈 땐 숙소로 돌아 와 저녁 먹고 벽난로 앞에 앉아 흐뭇한 기대감으로 사진을 봅니다.

기대한 대로 아름다운 자연과, 그리고 어느 샌가 늙어버린, 낯선 얼굴입니다.
"사진은 생긴 대로 나온다"고 하던데... 계속 지우며 넘어갑니다.
지울 것을 부지런히 찍었다는 허무함에도 몇 장은 내 하나님의 가슴에 남겨지기를 소망하면서요.

늙어감에 저항하고 어쩔 수 없이 양보하기도 하지만...
여전히 적응하기가 쉽지 않습니다.

태어나 말을 배우면서 인생을 시작한 것처럼 죽음을 깨닫고 늙음을 배우면서
가까이 있는 사람의 소중함과,
그리고 하늘과 구름과 바람을 사랑합니다.

내가 가는 이 길 끝에서 나는 주님을 만나리. 영광의 내 주님 나를 맞이하시리.

여행을 마치고 돌아가는 길에 캘거리 공항에서

A couple, aged 60 and 65, came to Banff, Canada, on a trip to celebrate the wife's 60th birthday (Hwangap).

The yellow autumn leaves that we don’t see in Hawaii, the vast open continent, the rocky mountains soaring into the sky, and the cobalt-blue lakes—overjoyed, we captured everything in sight. 

As dusk began to fall, we returned to our lodge, had dinner, and sat before the fireplace, looking through the photos with warm anticipation.

There was the beautiful nature, just as we had expected, but also a stranger’s face that had somehow grown old.

They say "the camera never lies"... Nevertheless, I keep deleting them one after another.

Despite the futility of realizing I had busily taken pictures only to delete them, I still hope that at least a few of these moments will remain in the heart of my God.

Though we resist aging and sometimes inevitably yield to it... 

It is still not easy to adapt.

Just as we began life by learning to speak after birth, we now learn to age as we awaken to death. 

In doing so, we come to cherish the preciousness of those closest to us, and we learn to love the sky, the clouds, and the wind.

At the end of this path I walk, I shall meet my Lord. My Lord of glory will welcome me.
