Lowe's, Walmart, Meta, McDonald's, Ford, Harley-Davidson, Brown-Forman, Molson Coors, Toyota, Boeing, Nissan.

In 2024, several major corporations have decided to cancel or scale back their Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs. Here is a list of some of the companies that have made these changes:

  • Lowe's Companies, Inc.: Scaled back DEI efforts, ending participation in the Human Rights Campaign's annual workplace inclusion survey and limiting sponsorship to business-related issues.
  • Walmart Inc.: Adjusted DEI strategy, aligning with merit-based hiring and internal talent development, and redirecting efforts away from divisive public opinion and legal exposure.
  • Meta Platforms Inc.: Scaled back DEI investments, facing criticism for limited results in promoting workplace diversity and achieving diverse leadership representation.
  • McDonald's Corporation: Changed the name of its diversity team to the Global Inclusion Team, a common practice for companies that have rolled back diversity pledges.
  • Ford Motor Company: Reduced DEI programs and policies, ending its relationship with the Human Rights Campaign and re-evaluating diversity programs in response to external pressures.
  • Harley-Davidson, Inc.: Rolled back some DEI initiatives, ending its relationship with the Human Rights Campaign and no longer having supplier diversity spend goals.
  • Jack Daniel’s Owner - Brown-Forman Corporation: Reduced DEI initiatives, taking steps as part of a new strategic framework to ensure executive incentives and employee goals are tied to business performance.
  • Molson Coors Beverage Company: Planned to ditch DEI initiatives, cut supplier diversity quotas, and sever ties with the Corporate Equality Index of the LGBTQ+ advocacy group Human Rights Campaign.
  • Toyota Motor Corporation: No longer sponsors LGBTQ+ events and plans to narrow community activities to align with STEM education and workforce readiness, cutting back on other DEI initiatives and programming.
  • Boeing Co.: Dismantled its DEI team, despite a pledge to increase opportunities for under-represented workers, including Black employees, after George Floyd’s death in 2020.
  • Nissan Motor Co.: Scaled back DEI policies after pressure from anti-woke activists, stopping funding Pride events and canceling hiring and promotion quotas for diverse applicants.

These companies have made various changes to their DEI strategies, some of which include ending participation in the Human Rights Campaign's Corporate Equality Index, changing the focus to merit-based hiring, and re-evaluating diversity programs in response to external pressures and legal changes.
